A dead body in the kitchen is usually enough to ruin anyone’s day. In Maa Behen, it becomes the beginning of a disastrous cover-up. The film follows Rekha and her estranged daughters, Jaya and Sushma, whose already fragile relationship is pushed to the limit when they discover a corpse inside their home. Instead of informing the police, panic takes over. One bad decision leads to another as the family attempts to hide the truth while avoiding suspicious neighbors, relatives, and law enforcement.
Madhuri Dixit plays Rekha, the family matriarch caught between protecting her daughters and dealing with the consequences of their actions. Triptii Dimri and Dharna Durga play Jaya and Sushma, two sisters carrying years of unresolved resentment. Their constant disagreements create much of the film’s comedy while also driving the emotional side of the story.
The relationship between the three women remains the film’s strongest element. Even when the plot becomes increasingly chaotic, the story keeps returning to the family tensions that existed long before the dead body appeared.
Director Suresh Triveni approaches the material as a crime comedy grounded in everyday life. Rather than focusing on large-scale action or elaborate twists, the film builds momentum through awkward situations, misunderstandings, and escalating panic.
Most of the story unfolds within homes, narrow streets, and neighborhood gathering spots, creating a setting where secrets are difficult to keep. The screenplay balances humor with suspense, allowing both genres to work without overpowering each other.
Maa Behen premiered on June 4, 2026, as a Netflix original film. The movie is available to stream exclusively on Netflix in supported regions.
