The Seven Snipers storyline centers on Kris “Voodoo Child” Hendricks, a former elite sniper who has disappeared from the violent world she once knew. Living quietly on an isolated Australian farm, Kris has concentrated on giving her daughter Anja a normal childhood away from her dangerous past.
That peace ends on Anja’s 16th birthday when Kris discovers that The Dragon, a brutal warlord who once held her captive, has found her location and wants revenge.
With her daughter now in danger, Kris turns to White Dog, a former member of her military unit. He brings together several members of the old sniper team to help defend the farm. But The Dragon’s forces begin eliminating them one by one, forcing Kris to rediscover the lethal abilities she had tried to leave behind.
The film combines family protection, revenge and survival with a contained siege structure. Anja’s discovery of the truth about her mother also gives the action a personal dimension, as the teenager must confront a past she never knew existed.
Sandra Sciberras directed Seven Snipers from a screenplay by Andrew O’Keefe. The producers include Tristan Barr, Grant Hardie, Phil Hunt, Ian Kirk and Sciberras. The production involves Monster Pictures Studios and Screen Queensland, in association with Head Gear Films, Metrol Technology, Kreo Films and FilmBarr.
Andrew Conder served as cinematographer, while Stephanie Liquorish edited the film and Mike Forst composed the score. The Australian countryside provides the film with an isolated setting that naturally supports its siege-thriller structure.
The production’s approach emphasizes the contrast between Kris’s quiet rural existence and the violent military past she is forced to confront. Instead of placing the story in a conventional urban action setting, the remote ranch becomes the central battleground.
The Seven Snipers cast includes:
Radha Mitchell is the film’s clear centerpiece, with the story built around Kris’s transformation from a woman trying to escape her past into someone willing to fight again. Tim Roth provides the opposing force as the dangerous Dragon.
