The Fantastic Four: First Steps focuses on character development and the emotional relationships among the characters rather than on a large-scale spectacle or event. It details how four individuals, upon receiving their abilities, learn to cope with the power that comes with those abilities, along with the expectations of being public figures/groups within society.
The focus of First Steps is more relational (i.e., Family Tension, Family Trust, Family Identity) than on a mystical adventure as seen in previous film versions of the Fantastic Four. First Steps is written and designed on a foundation of strong characters and emotions, allowing it to be successfully integrated into the evolving MCU.
