Storyline & Plot Analysis

The Aroopi storyline begins centuries ago with Padmini Thampuratty, a powerful princess associated with the Aryanattu estate. After a series of events surrounding her family, a vengeful Yakshini becomes bound to a doll and remains sealed away for generations.

In the present day, two thieves steal the doll without understanding what it contains. Their actions accidentally unleash the supernatural entity, setting off a chain of disturbing events.

A murder eventually brings Niranjan, the last surviving heir of the family, back to his ancestral home. As he investigates what happened, he finds himself confronting an ancient curse and secrets that have remained hidden within his family for generations.

The film combines folklore, supernatural horror and mystery, with the ancestral estate providing the central atmosphere. Its story is less dependent on conventional jump scares and more focused on the mystery surrounding the spirit, the family history and Niranjan’s connection to the curse.

The production leans heavily into the atmosphere of the ancestral estate and supernatural folklore. The Kerala setting and traditional elements surrounding the Yakshini legend help distinguish Aroopi from more conventional modern horror stories.
