Kafir: Gerbang Sukma (2026) is an Indonesian supernatural horror film that explores the dark side of spiritual beliefs and traditional mysticism. Known internationally as Kafir: Soul Portal, the movie blends Indonesian folklore with psychological horror, focusing on curses, possession, and the mysterious world that exists between the living and the spirit realm.
The story centers on Putri, a young woman whose life changes dramatically after the sudden and mysterious death of her father. During his final moments, he leaves behind strange symbols and cryptic messages that suggest he was involved with dark spiritual practices. Soon after his death, unsettling events begin to occur around Putri and her family.
The once peaceful household becomes the center of terrifying disturbances. Objects move on their own, shadows appear in empty rooms, and members of the family begin experiencing disturbing visions. As the haunting intensifies, Putri discovers that her father may have opened a spiritual gateway, known as the “Gerbang Sukma,” which allows restless spirits to cross into the human world.
Determined to protect her family, Putri begins searching for answers about the mysterious ritual that unleashed the curse. With the help of a spiritual guide, she uncovers a dark secret tied to forbidden beliefs and dangerous practices that were meant to summon power from the spirit realm. However, closing the portal proves far more difficult than opening it.
As malevolent spirits grow stronger and begin targeting the living, Putri must confront the terrifying truth behind her father’s actions and find a way to seal the supernatural gateway before it consumes her entire family.
