The Cat in the Hat has built a reputation for turning ordinary days into unforgettable adventures. This time, however, he faces his biggest test. Working for the Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration (I.I.I.I.), he is assigned to help two siblings, Gabby and Sebastian, who are struggling to settle into a new town after a life-changing move.
As the Cat fills their world with imagination, colorful creatures, and unexpected surprises, the children slowly begin to see their new surroundings in a different light. But the Cat’s playful nature often leads to chaos, and one mistake could cost him the magical hat that defines who he is.
The adventure celebrates creativity, family, and the importance of embracing change while staying true to the whimsical spirit of Dr. Seuss’s original work.
Warner Bros. acquired the film rights to The Cat in the Hat after earlier adaptation plans from another studio were shelved. Rather than retelling the original book page by page, the filmmakers created a new story that expands the world of Dr. Seuss while keeping the Cat’s playful personality at its center. The film also marks the first full-length animated feature from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, with animation provided by DNEG Animation.
The Cat in the Hat is scheduled for an exclusive theatrical release on November 6, 2026, including IMAX screenings in many markets. Streaming and digital release details have not yet been announced and are expected to be revealed after the film completes its theatrical run.
