The Legendaries (2026) is a French animated fantasy adventure film based on the popular comic book series Les Légendaires created by Patrick Sobral. Directed by Guillaume Ivernel, the movie brings the well-known graphic novel heroes to the big screen in a colorful 3D animated adaptation aimed at family audiences.
Produced as a major European animated project with a budget of around €15 million, the film was developed for several years before its theatrical release in France on January 28, 2026. The movie adapts elements from the early volumes of the comic series while presenting an original cinematic narrative that introduces the fantasy world of Alysia to a broader audience.
The story takes place in the magical world of Alysia, where five legendary heroes Danaël, Jadina, Gryf, Shimy, and Razzia were once celebrated as the greatest protectors of their land. Their lives change forever during a battle with the powerful sorcerer Darkhell. A catastrophic magical event known as the Accident of Jovénia unleashes a curse that transforms the heroes and the entire population into children.
Blamed for the disaster and stripped of their heroic status, the former champions struggle to survive in a world that no longer trusts them. Years later, the threat of Darkhell returns, bringing a new plan that could enslave the world using ancient magical forces. Faced with this danger, the young versions of the once-legendary warriors must reunite and prove that heroism does not depend on age.
As the group travels across dangerous lands, they rediscover their friendship, courage, and purpose. Together they confront powerful enemies, hidden secrets, and their own past mistakes. The Legendaries ultimately tells a story about redemption, teamwork, and how true heroes can rise again even after the greatest fall.
