Checkered Ninja 3 (also known internationally under that title though originally released as Ternet Ninja 3 in Denmark) is a Danish animated family adventure film and the third and final installment in the popular Checkered Ninja trilogy. The franchise has been acclaimed in Scandinavia for blending action, heartfelt moments, and humor while appealing to both children and older audiences.
The film follows Aske, a teenager whose fascination with ninja missions is fading as he grows older and becomes more focused on school, friends, and ordinary teenage life. Meanwhile, his magical companion the Checkered Ninja doll feels neglected and insists they find a new mission together.
Their peaceful life is disrupted when Aske accidentally crosses paths with Marco, the tough new boyfriend of his friend Jessica. Things quickly escalate when Marco’s gang retaliates by setting fire to Aske’s shed, and Checkered Ninja pushes Aske to defend himself. Aske also becomes close to a new girl in his class named Emily, which only heightens existing feelings and jealousy among his friends.
The stakes rise further as the group’s old nemesis, Phillip Eppermynt, who was believed to be defeated, returns with revenge on his mind. Caught between friendship challenges, teenage drama, and a lingering supernatural threat, Aske must navigate changing relationships while rediscovering what it truly means to grow up and stand up for those he cares about.
