Storyline & Plot Analysis

The Lenin storyline begins with Lenin returning from prison to his village, where unresolved relationships and old conflicts quickly resurface. The narrative then moves between the present and the past to explain the events that led to his imprisonment.

At the heart of the story is Lenin’s relationship with Bharathi and his complicated friendship with people from his village. Their personal lives become entangled with long-standing rivalries, family tensions and a cycle of revenge.

The film also draws heavily from Mahabharata imagery, particularly the ideas of loyalty, duty, conflict and opposing sides of a larger battle. The village’s annual Bharatham Jatara becomes an important backdrop, giving the rural drama a mythological layer.

Rather than being a biographical film about Vladimir Lenin, the movie uses the name for its fictional protagonist and builds its story around rural relationships and conflict.

Production Details & Behind-the-Scenes

Murali Kishor Abburu wrote and directed Lenin, with Nagarjuna Akkineni, Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, Yuriy Krestinskiy, and Elena Yatsura among the producers. The production companies include Manam Enterprises, Sithara Entertainments, Trikita Entertainment, and Annapurna Studios.

Leon Britto handled cinematography, Navin Nooli edited the film, and Thaman S composed the music. The production’s visual identity is strongly tied to its rustic village setting, while the annual festival and Mahabharata-inspired elements give the movie a distinctive cultural backdrop.

The film also has an unusual language footprint, with IMDb listing Telugu and Russian among its languages.
