Operation Tral (2026) is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language action thriller written and directed by Ratheesh Vega in his feature directorial debut. Starring Jayasurya in the lead role alongside Amyra Dastur, Ritika Singh, Siddique, and Vinay Rai, the film follows an NIA intelligence officer investigating a deadly convoy ambush in Kashmir. Inspired by real events, Operation Tral is being produced as a pan-Indian release and is scheduled to arrive in theaters during Christmas 2026.

Operation Tral (2026) Storyline

An experienced National Investigation Agency (NIA) intelligence officer is assigned to investigate a devastating convoy ambush in Tral, Kashmir. As the investigation progresses, the case reveals a complex network of militancy, intelligence operations, and political tensions that extend far beyond the initial attack.

With every new lead placing him deeper inside hostile territory, the officer must separate facts from misinformation while preventing another major security threat. The mission tests his judgment, resilience, and commitment as he races against time to uncover the truth.

Inspired by real incidents, Operation Tral blends military action with investigative suspense, focusing on the challenges faced by security personnel working in high-risk conflict zones.

Production Details

Operation Tral marks the directorial debut of composer Ratheesh Vega, who also wrote the screenplay and composed the film’s music. Produced by Joby George Thadathil under the Goodwill Entertainments banner, the film is mounted on a large scale and is being released as a pan-Indian project.

Principal photography is taking place across multiple locations, including Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Kochi, Coimbatore, and Palakkad, to recreate the film’s military and investigative backdrop. Cinematography is handled by Naveen Najose, while Shafeeque V. B. serves as the editor.

Release Date and Where to Watch

Operation Tral is scheduled for a theatrical release during Christmas 2026. The film will be released in Malayalam, with dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. Details regarding its digital streaming premiere have not yet been officially announced.
