The 29th Detective Conan film trades mountain observatories and isolated crime scenes for highways, motorcycles, and high-speed pursuits. Set primarily in Yokohama, Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway begins when a mysterious black motorcycle starts appearing in a series of incidents that leave police investigators scrambling for answers. The vehicle becomes known as “Lucifer,” a dark counterpart to “Angel,” a newly unveiled police motorcycle showcased at a major motorcycle festival. When the incidents escalate, Conan Edogawa finds himself drawn into a case that reaches deep into the past of Kanagawa’s motorcycle police division.
Unlike many recent Conan films that center on long-running fan-favorite characters, this entry puts Chihaya Hagiwara at the heart of the story. Voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro, Chihaya leads the investigation while dealing with memories connected to her late brother Kenji Hagiwara and his close friend Jinpei Matsuda. Those personal connections give the mystery more emotional weight than a standard chase thriller. Conan remains the driving force behind the investigation, but much of the film’s strongest material comes from Chihaya’s determination to uncover the truth behind the rider known as Lucifer.
Director Takahiro Hasui leans heavily into motorcycle action, making this one of the fastest-paced entries in the franchise. Highway pursuits, police operations, and large-scale action sequences are woven into the mystery rather than serving as separate set pieces. Alongside Conan and Chihaya, returning characters including Ran Mori, Kogoro Mori, Ai Haibara, and Masumi Sera all play key roles in the investigation. The film’s visual focus on motorcycles and urban roadways helps it stand apart from previous installments.
Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway opened in Japanese theaters on April 10, 2026 through Toho. International releases followed in selected territories, including the United Kingdom and Ireland in June 2026. As of June 2026, the film remains primarily a theatrical release in many markets, with streaming and home-media plans expected to be announced later by regional distributors.
