

Masters of the Universe is a live-action adaptation of Mattel’s iconic franchise. The film follows Prince Adam, who was separated from his home planet Eternia as a child and raised on Earth. Years later, the legendary Sword of Power leads him back to a world now ruled by the evil Skeletor. To save Eternia and reclaim his destiny, Adam must become He-Man and unite with old allies in a battle that will determine the future of the universe. Directed by Travis Knight, the film stars Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Jared Leto, Idris Elba, and Alison Brie. It was released in theaters on June 5, 2026.
Prince Adam has spent most of his life on Earth, unaware of the role he is destined to play. When the Sword of Power reappears, he returns to Eternia and discovers that Skeletor has seized control of the planet. With the help of Teela and Man-At-Arms, Adam embraces his true identity as He-Man and leads the fight against Skeletor’s forces. The story combines fantasy adventure, large-scale battles, and the long-running conflict between the defenders of Eternia and its most dangerous enemy.
The film is directed by Travis Knight from a screenplay by Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and David Callaham. It is based on Mattel’s Masters of the Universe franchise and serves as the second live-action adaptation following the 1987 film. Production was handled by Amazon MGM Studios, Mattel Studios, and Escape Artists. Principal photography took place in London between January and June 2025, with Fabian Wagner serving as cinematographer and Daniel Pemberton composing the score.
Masters of the Universe was released exclusively in theaters on June 5, 2026, by Amazon MGM Studios in North America and Sony Pictures internationally. The film is currently playing in theaters. A streaming release has not been officially announced, though it is expected to arrive on Prime Video following its theatrical run.
